iGP holds Chhattisgarh state convention, elects 25-member state executive committee
Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, 11 April 2021: The Chhattisgarh unit of the India Greens Party (iGP) today elected a 25-member state executive committee including eight women for a period of two years.
The state unit held the online state convention on Zoom application today to elect the state executive.
The online convention was inaugurated by the iGP President Suresh Nautiyal from the party’s national head office (NHO) in Uttarakhand, and was moderated by Vice-President and Incharge of the Chhattisgarh state, Mr Rajendra Minz from Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh.
Mr Michael Rajchandra (International Secretary & IT Committee Convener) facilitated the convention and extended technical support regarding the Zoom application on which the online convention was held.
In a press statement issued here, the iGP Chhattisgarh Spokesperson Mukesh Kumar Gupta said Ms Lily Shanta Minj and Mr Ankit Chaubey were elected as President and General Secretary respectively of the 25-member Chhattisgarh State Executive Committee.
According to Mr Gupta, the other office bearers elected in the online state convention are: Mr Mehboob Alam and Mr Bharat Patel (Vice-Presidents); Mr Johan Ram (Treasurer); Mr Sunil More, Ram Prakash Thakur, Ms Anjali Khalkho and Mr Manoj Bhagat (Secretaries); Mr Mukesh Kumar Gupta and Ravi Shankar Baghel (Spokespersons); Mr Ankit Tiwari and Ms Manisha Lakra (Coordinators IT Affairs); Mr Ram Prasad Yadav, Ms Shalini, Mr Anand Kumar Yadav, Mr Ashok Ravi, Mr Jay Prakash Manikpuri, Ms Prafulla, Ms Rajini Lakra, Mr Pawan Bhagat, Mr Neelam Chandra Kujur, Ms Reena Teta, Mr Shishil Tirkey and Ms Ranjana (all Executive Members).
Returning Officer, Mr Javed Khan of the Rehana Foundation, conducted the election process which was based on consensus. After the election process was over, he announced the names of the elected office bearers.
The other leaders of the iGP — Ms Usha Bakshi and Mr Ranmal Singh Jhala (Vice-Presidents), Mr Vinod Kumar Nautiyal (Treasurer), Ms (Dr) Mansee Bal Bhargava (Spokesperson), Ms Geeta Sahu (Political Affairs Committee Member), Ms Archana Patel and Ms Sarika Dabral (Conveners, Brihan Mumbai Ad-hoc Committee), and others also took part in the Chhattisgarh state convention. Party’s Office Secretary, Mr Deepak Dabral, also attended the online convention. Secretary-General Ms Rehana Siddiqui could not take part in the state convention due to sudden illness.
The convention was divided into various sessions. The inaugural session saw several leaders like President Mr Suresh Nautiyal; Vice Presidents Ms Usha Bakshi and Mr Ranmal Singh Jhala, Treasurer Mr Vinod Kumar Nautiyal, Spokesperson Ms (Dr) Mansee Bal Bhargava, and International Secretary Mr Michael Rajchandra speak on various political and ecological issues. They focussed on the importance and relevance of Green Politics in the country.
Dr Mansee Bal Bhargava made a presentation on water and talked about judicious use of water and universal access to safe potable water.
The speakers thanked Mr Suresh Nautiyal for creating the Green party and spreading the Green Political Movement throughout the country.
Mr Rajchandra emphasised the need for a scientific and Green technological mindset to really implement the Green agenda.
Mr Suresh Nautiyal said the India Greens Party is on the steady march and it already has its footprints in 27 states and union territories, and committees in more than a dozen states/union territories. He said the times ahead are critical and only Green parties will have the agenda to save and protect all living beings on Earth.
The iGP President said their party in the state of Chhattisgarh will focus on the issues dear to the Adivasi people and other marginalised communities including women and minorities.
Mr Nautiyal launched a state-level campaign “Chhattisgarh — 100 Points” which will be spread over all the districts of the state and hit 100 points in the state to spread the Green Political Ideology.
Mr Rajendra Minz said it is the right time to act in the state as people are fed up with the so-called mainstream political parties and their rule. “These parties work as stooges of their corporate masters only,” he pointed out.
Newly elected State President Lily Shanta Minj and General Secretary Ankit Chaubey thanked the voting members of the state for expressing their faith in them. Both of them assured to do everything possible in the interest of the party and Green Politics in the country. Ms Minj said the party will also focus on the “She Will Run” campaign soon so as to prepare women for contesting the forthcoming State Assembly elections.
The newly elected Chhattisgarh State Executive Committee plans to hold its meeting quite soon and establish the state level head office somewhere in Chhattisgarh.
The state unit of the party will organise Gender Equity training soon for the women members of the party.
