INDIA GREENS PARTY
Press Statement
Unchir-Dunktok, Pauri-Garhwal, Uttarakhand, 12 February 2022: The India Greens Party (iGP) today said that faith, food, and dress-code depended on individuals’ choices and no government, no institution or no person has a right to advise people what faith they should belong to, what dress they should wear, and what food they should eat.
The iGP, in a press statement issued here at the national head office (NHO) of the party, said the hijab controversy was not at all necessary as hijab or headscarf does neither contradict the education rules nor the Indian Constitution.
“It is sad that some elements in society are increasingly getting aggressive when it comes to the choices of individuals. Asking women students belonging to a particular religion to not wear hijab or headscarf is an interference with the right to privacy and individual choices,” the party said in its statement.
