Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, 19 January 2020: The India Greens Party (IGP) held its preparatory meeting in Ambikapur today in which an 18-member Organising Committee was constituted to hold the state convention to elect it’s executive. The Committee consists of nine women.
The meeting also formed state unit of the IGP Women’s Network.
The day-long meeting was chaired by the IGP President Suresh Nautiyal and co-chaired by party’s senior leader Ms Anita Nautiyal and IGPWN leader Ms Lily Shanta Minj. Mr Raj Minz and IGP General Secretary Lucas Tirkey also graced the occasion.
The state convention will be held on 10 May 2020.
Prior to the state convention, a two-day gender equity workshop will also be held on 8 and 9 January 2020. This workshop will train women on gender equity.
Later, the party will also launch the ‘She Will Run’ campaign that will prepare the IGP women to contest the assembly elections in 2024 in the state. The ‘She Will Run’ or “Main Chunav Ladoongi Aur Jeetoongi” campaign is expected to be launched during the state convention on May 10.
The Chhattisgarh Organising Committee will form similar committees in all districts of the state before holding a state-level convention to elect its executive.
Ms Lily Shanta Minj and Chandreshwar Tigga have been elected as Co-convener of the Chhattisgarh organising Committee. Ms Silbinia Ekka has been elected as Treasurer.
The Members on the Organising Committee are: Ms Sabina Beck, Mohan Sai Paikra, Parmeshwar Bhagat, Nilesh Kumar Sori, Ms Savitri Tigga, Ms Rajni Lakra, Ms Anita Minz, James Paul Minz, Deepak Lakra, Jawahar Ram, Ms Regina Tirkey, Kulranjan Tirkey, Christo Rai Kindo, Ms Mary Clara, and Ms Jyoti Kujur.
IGP Chattisgarh Women’s Network Ad-hoc Committee is as follows: Ms Regina Tirkey (Convener), Ms Sunita Tirkey (Deputy Convener), Ms Rajni Lakra (Treasurer), and Ms Savitri Tigga (Secretary). All the women members of IGP Chhattisgarh will be members of the women’s network.
The Organising Committee will also take up certain programmes like membership drive, crowdfunding, campaigns on ecology, etc. It will also work with the like-minded organisations working on issues like mining. The party in the state will also support farmers’ issues including the movement to save traditional seeds (Beej Bachao Andolan), Harit Kisan Mitra Andolan for organic farming, etc. Training sessions will also be organised to promote permaculture, etc
