Resolutions passed and adopted in the iGP Brihan Mumbai State Convention on 25 April 2021

INDIA GREENS PARTY

The following Resolutions on important ecological and environmental issues, social justice and human rights issues, etc, were passed and adopted by the iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee in its inaugural convention on 25 April 2021.  The Resolutions are as follows:

  1. Ecological System:

The iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee resolves to strive towards creating an ecosystem in the Brihan Mumbai region which will provide every living being a healthier, happier, stronger and longer life. The state unit of the party will be working towards creating a pollution-free, green, natural and healthier habitat, which includes clean air, potable water, unadulterated natural food, a healthy and safe social system, a rich environment with natural ambience, and a sustainable, joyful lifestyle. iGP Brihan Mumbai believes that all living beings are important be it humans, animals, birds, insects, marine life or the living natural habitats like forests, mangroves, hills, mountains, rivers, ponds, oceans and most importantly the soil. The iGP Brihan Mumbai unit also resolves to strive for making living conditions better, healthier, stronger, longer and happier for all these living beings because, for iGP, each life matters.

  1. Aarey Forest Region:

The iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee will strive for a stop to all the environmentally hazardous activities taking place in the entire Aarey Forest region or activities that will be planned anytime in the future. The state unit of the party will also take all necessary measures to create awareness among the citizens of Brihan Mumbai so that they also participate in the conservation of Aarey Forest. The unit will also work on various methods and plans for the protection and conservation of the natural ecosystem and the biodiversity in the Aarey Forest region, and protection of the Adivasi people there.

  1. Healthcare System:

The iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee resolves to work towards fulfilling the citizens’ rights to a proper healthcare system, medical assistance and medical treatment facilities. It is to be reiterated that each and every life is important for the party. 

  1. Vet Healthcare System:

The iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee resolves to push the state government and the municipality to build veterinary clinics and veterinary hospitals for pets, stray and wild animals, and birds, etc. This is in line with the state unit of the party’s commitment to providing a good healthcare system for all residents of our zone without any discrimination. 

  1. Environmental Healthcare System:

The iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee resolves to push the state government and the municipality to provide good healthcare system for all environmental beings in the Brihan Mumbai region. The state unit of the party will also push the government bodies to create a unit to take care of trees; for example by replanting fallen trees, supporting weak trees and watering and taking all care of them.

  1. Housemaids:

The iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee appreciates and respects the efforts and contributions made towards creating a better society by the housemaids in Brihan Mumbai. To safeguard the rights of housemaids, the Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee of the party resolves to work towards assuring them with a minimum wage guarantee, good medical facilities and provision for paid sick leaves and a weekly day off from work. The state unit resolves to work towards providing the housemaids with their basic rights so that they can work with dignity, respect and joy. 

  1. Working Class:

The iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee will strive to make the working and living conditions better for workers in the unorganised and organised labour sectors of Brihan Mumbai. This is because each life matters for the iGP.

  1. Single-use Plastic:

The iGP Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee demands a complete ban on the manufacture and consumption of single-use plastic or plastic goods and other single use plastic accessories. To achieve a total ban on single-use plastic products, the state unit of the party calls upon the Brihan Mumbai Corporation and the Maharashtra State Government to take necessary actions to declare a ban and create a functional system to enforce the ban.
