INDIA GREENS PARTY
Press Statement
Unchir-Dunktok, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, 20 December 2021: Celebrating the International Human Solidarity Day today, the India Greens Party (iGP) said human solidarity is vital for confronting the crises and challenges that the people are facing.
In a press statement issued on the occasion, the iGP Chief Spokesperson Suresh Nautiyal said the objective of the day is to eradicate poverty and promote human and social development in developing countries, in particular among the poorest segments of their populations.
“This is why the UN General Assembly, on 22 December 2005, identified solidarity as one of the fundamental and universal values that underline relations between peoples,” said Mr Nautiyal.
According to the United Nations, the International Human Solidarity Day — is a day to celebrate our unity in diversity; a day to remind governments to respect their commitments to international agreements; a day to raise public awareness of the importance of solidarity; a day to encourage debate on the ways to promote solidarity for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals including poverty eradication; and, a day of action to encourage new initiatives for poverty eradication.
