iGPWN holds Gender Equity Training Workshop for women; forms WNs for Brihan Mumbai and Maharashtra

Unchir-Dunktok, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, 17 August 2021: The Women’s Network of India Greens Party today concluded the 4-day-long Online Gender Equity Training Workshop for the party women of Brihan Mumbai and Maharashtra.

In a press release issued here, the iGPWN Convener Madhubanti Sen said the Online Gender Equity Training Workshop for the Brihan Mumbai and Maharashtra units was held on 13-14 and 16-17 August 2021.

Women’s Networks for the Brihan Mumbai and Maharashtra units of the party also emerged from the Online Workshop. In all, 16 women took part in the workshop, and 13 women completed the training programme.

The Women’s Network of the Brihan Mumbai State Executive Committee is as follows: Convener-Ms Shreyashi Chakrabarti, Deputy Convener-Ms Vinita Menon, Secretary-Ms Nalini Namjoshi, Treasurer-Ms Alpana Deshpande, Deputy Treasurer-Ms Sarika Dabral, Mentor-Ms Madhubanti Sen, Trainer-Ms Archna Patel, Social Media Manager-Ms Minouti Kamat.

The Women’s Network for the Maharashtra Ad-hoc Committee is as follows: Convener-Ms Manisha Savla, Deputy Convener-Ms Apeksha Wasudeo, Secretary-Ms Vidya Kasabe, and Treasurer-Ms Reena Bajpai.

Both the Women’s Networks will expand their bodies eventually.

According to Ms Madhubanti Sen, the workshop consisted of sessions by Advocate Veena Kumari, Director of Human Rights Law Network, and international Gender Equity Trainers Michelle Maree Sheather and Jenny Mulkearns from Australian Greens, and Anita Nautiyal from India Greens Party.

There were insightful sessions on Gender Equity, Women’s Rights, Skill Development, and Dealing with Backlash in Politics among many others.

The training was imparted by Ms Madhubanti Sen, Convener of iGPWN; Ms Harpreet Kaur, iGP PAC member; and Ms Nazeema AK, iGP General Secretary.

There were activity sessions in breakout rooms where participants brainstormed on how to move gender equity within the party and what were the key issues faced by women in politics.

The women participating in the 4-day workshop also developed a 3-year roadmap for the Brihan Mumbai and Maharashtra women’s networks, formed on the last day of the training session. Office bearers of the women’s networks were also elected.
