New Delhi, INDIA: The India Greens Party – an emerging pan-India Green party – said today that the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was an irresponsible act having far-reaching consequences in the Middle East and beyond.
In a statement here, Mr Suresh Nautiyal, National Convener of the India Greens Party, said the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was in fact denial of the legitimate claims of the Palestinian people for an independent state.
Mr Nautiyal said Jerusalem has been a historically holy site for Jews, Muslims and Christians and the US decision has violated so many things as Jerusalem issue was not one that would be decided unilaterally by a single nation or party. It was a fact that has long been recognised by the international community and the US, Mr Nautiyal added
