INDIA GREENS PARTY
Press Statement
Unchir, Pauri-Garhwal, Uttarakhand, 3 October 2020: Condemning the horrendous Hathras and Balrampur Dalit rape incidents in the strongest of words, the India Greens Party (IGP) today demanded resignation of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath saying that he has no moral authority to rule the state.
In a press statement issued here today, the IGP President Suresh Nautiyal said the atrocious Hathras and Balrampur incidents are cold-blooded murder of human rights as well.
“It is condemnable that women have no protection in the country and particularly in a state like Uttar Pradesh and criminals are openly committing the rape and murder crimes,” he said.
“Mid-night cremation of the Hathras rape victim and that too in the absence of her family members is highly objectionable. How can any government prevent a family from performing the last rites of their dear one,” the IGP leader questioned, adding that the matter needs to be proved by a Supreme Court sitting judge.
Mr Nautiyal said that it is not acceptable that the Indian state is becoming more and more anti-Dalit, anti-minority, and anti-Adivasi.
“The Hathras and Balrampur rape cases have once again proved that India is among the worst places in the world for the female population. It is very sad that such gruesome incidents have brought a very dismal reputation for the country,” the IGP leader lamented.
“Such violence is a violation of human body and dignity. The India Greens Party cannot accept violence in any form, in any context, on any basis, against any person, and in any part of the world,” Mr Nautiyal pointed out.
The 19-year-old victim, belonging to the Dalit community, was attacked and raped on 14 September 2020 at a field near her home in Hathras district, some 100km away from New Delhi. She died in a Delhi hospital on 29 September 2020.
“Gang-rape and consequent death of Another Dalit woman from Balrampur district in the state is yet another instance of how the state government under Yogi Adityanath is functioning,” the IGP leader said.
“Therefore, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has no moral right or authority to rule the state at all,” said the IGP President.
