INDIA GREENS PARTY
Press Release
Issued at New Delhi on 8 March 2025
The India Greens Party (IGP) today celebrated the International Women’s Day with a commitment to raise the political visibility of women across the country; and, to honour the remarkable women who inspire, uplift communities, and drive transformative changes.
The Chhattisgarh unit of the party, under the leadership of Rajendra Minj, former Co-President of the party, organised a meeting on the occasion in a remote village of Jaspur district of the state. A large number of the village women took part in the meeting, most of whom expressed their gratitude to the Mother Earth and rededicated themselves to protecting nature and the forests in particular.
Several party leaders like Suresh Nautiyal, Harpreet Kaur, Sarika Dabral, Ishpriya Kaur, Rusi B Nariman, and Marki Adil joined the meeting online from different parts of the country, and vowed to engage more and more women in Green Politics.
Congratulating the world community on the occasion of the International Women’s Day (IWD) today, the India Greens Party (iGP) said there is an urgent need to celebrate women every day; and break cultural, political, socio-economic, and historical barriers that prevent the progress of women; adding that there was an urgent need for gender equality for a sustainable tomorrow. Also, there is urgent need to make use of technology for gender equality.
iGP said the world governments are required to change the stereotypes by making the political will to actively and intentionally support women’s representation.
“It is high time to end marginalisation and exclusion of women and girls,” the party stated, adding that it remained committed to ensure women’s equal participation in all spheres of life and in the organisation.
The party is of the firm view that no country would progress and prosper without equal participation of women.
The iGP said it is disappointing that numerous restrictions keep more than 2.7 billion women in the world from accessing the same choice of jobs as men.
