INDIA GREENS PARTY

Issued at iGP NHO at Greendham Anandi-Chait, Unchir-Dunktok, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand on 8 November 2023.

Press Release

The India Greens Party (iGP) regrets to inform that the Returning Officer for the Lundra Assembly constituency in the Chhattisgarh state did not accept Ms Afsana Singh as a candidate of the India Greens party in the Assembly election this November.

Ms Afsana Singh has been allotted the Apple election symbol as an independent candidate.

The party has decided to support her and campaign in her favour.

Ms Afsana Singh had filed her nomination for the Lundra Assembly constituency as a candidate of the India Greens party.

She was rejected as India Greens Party candidate on some “technical” grounds.

There is no other candidate of the party in the fray.

On 15 October 2023, the party had decided to contest the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election. The second round of voting will take place on 17 November this year. In its online special meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) on that day, the party unanimously decided to field candidates in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election.

“Despite this great setback to the party, the party thinks there is a great hope for Green Politics in the country. The India Greens party’s political journey will continue in the state of Chhattisgarh and rest of the country,” the party said in its Press Release issued today from its NHO.

Issued by the iGP Chief Spokesperson Suresh Nautiyal.
