INDIA GREENS PARTY
Press Statement
Unchir-Dunktok, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, 16 August 2022: The India Greens Party (iGP) today strongly condemned the recent brutal murder of a 9-year-old Dalit student by a school teacher for touching the drinking water pot, in a village of Jalore district in the state of Rajasthan.
The boy died on last Saturday, 24 days after he was assaulted by the teacher.
The iGP Co-Presidents, Nazeema AK and Rajendra Minj, said it is extremely shocking to find a nine-year-old boy getting beaten just because of his caste, even in the 21st century, when India is completing 75 years of freedom!
The iGP Co-Presidents called for the harshest punishment to the culprit.
The party Chief Spokesperson, Prabhath Prabhakaran, said it is a mockery of social justice if untouchability is still inflicted on Dalits in the country despite Dalit and Adivasi leaders ascending to the highest positions in the country.
“Democracy and freedom can have real meaning for the oppressed sections of society only when such discrimination is entirely eliminated from society through a combination of effective government and public initiatives,” he added.
iGP Founder, Suresh Nautiyal, said the inhuman acts must stop in the country. “Real participation without discrimination of all communities can actually help in the elimination of untouchability and other social evils,” he added.
