INDIA GREENS PARTY

Issued at iGP NHO at Greendham Anandi-Chait, Unchir-Dunktok, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand on 15 August 2023.

Press Release

The India Greens Party (iGP) today celebrated the 77th Independence Day of the country by hoisting the National Flag, Tricolour, at its national head office (NHO) in Uttarakhand and at various locations in the country.

Party’s Founder Suresh Nautiyal hoisted the National Tricolour. Local Unchir Village Committee President Sitaram Nautiyal, and iGP Office Secretary Sandeep Singh assisted the iGP Founder is hoisting the National Flag.

The iGP in a press release said it is a special occasion for all the citizens of India to celebrate the Independence Day, pointing out that democracy was catalyst in taking everything forward including economy and governance. Therefore, we need concerted efforts to strengthen this beautiful form of governance.

On the occasion, the party reiterated it is committed for the establishment of participatory democracy in the country because the present form of democracy is unable to come up to people’s expectations and as a result their aspirations remained unfulfilled.

The iGP pointed out that democracy should have deepened with the passing of each Independence Day; but regrettably, that was not to be. The rampant corruption in the day-to-day life of the bureaucrats, politicians, and the people was the main hindrance in the way of real development of society; and due to this malady, people were not getting benefit of the government schemes properly and adequately. And, it is sad that the sane voices in the country are being muffled even after 76 years of independence.

The iGP is of the view that all citizens in the country must get all essential facilities without discrimination, otherwise our political system, which is called democracy, will have no meaning.

Today, in the afternoon, the India Greens Party Women’s Network (iGPWN) will organise a webinar on the issue, “Empowered and Resilient: Unveiling the Reality of Women’s Independence in India on 77th Independence Day”. Activists like Advocate (Ms) Neelofar Masood (Vice-President Bar Association Baramulla J&K), Ms Sujata Madhok (senior journalist and President of Delhi Union of Journalists), and Ms Lalita Panwar (social activist, Jodhpur Rajasthan) will speak on the topic. A video “Look at Women Freedom Fighters Lost in Pages of History” will also be shared with the participants in the webinar. The topic and the speakers are to be introduced by the iGPWN Convener, Ms Madhubanti Sen. She will also introduce the iGPWN Executive to the participants. Co-President of the iGP, Ms Harpreet Kaur, will conclude the session with her thank you note.
