INDIA GREENS PARTY

Telangana Working Group

Press Release

Hyderabad, 10 April 2022: The Telangana unit of the India Greens Party (iGP) today proposed a Green Alliance unit for the state to develop sustainably.

The decision was taken in a meeting organised by the Telangana Working Group of the iGP here today.

According to a press release issued here by Telangana unit of the party, the Green Alliance is an iGP initiative to ally with like-minded Green people and organisations who are experts, activists,  NGOs,  social and ecological start-ups, advocacy groups, and like-minded political parties.

The event provided an opportunity to introduce Green Politics to the prominent Telangana environmentalists and discuss the possibility of forming a unit of the Green Alliance to bring socio-political change in the Telangana state.

The iGP Vice-President Ms Madhubanti Sen, chaired the meeting and it was moderated by the iGP General Secretary (Telangana & Andhra Pradesh) Akarsh Sriramoju.

The first offline meeting this year at Suha Residence, Manikonda, with the help of the prominent civil society members and iGP senior leader Uma Maheshwar, was attended by several party members, supporters, and eminent environmentalists from Telangana. They deliberated on most areas concerning ecology, environment, and climate change.

Eminent environmentalists and activists like Mr Sagar Dhara, Mr Gangadhar Panday, Mr Bala Swamy, Mrs Prameela Peerun, and Mr Sanjay Gadhalay graced the event with their presence.

The state unit of the party hopes that this alliance will provide a much-needed forum for the upcoming 2023 Legislative Assembly elections in Telangana. Also, this alliance will help the party identify major social, economic, and environmental issues in the state and draft policies to provide political solutions to those problems.

Each offline meeting of iGP in Telangana from now on will focus on specific issues such as gender equality, youth unemployment, administrative issues, child empowerment, ecological issues, and the transition to the well-being economy.

The party as a whole takes this opportunity to call upon all like-minded people in the country to join hands with us and help us build an India that prioritises Planet and People over Profits.
